Increase in foreign tourist arrivals

With more visitors coming from the US, total number of foreign tourists grew to 5.13 lakh in June this year as compared to 5.05 lakh during the same month last year, a growth of 1.8 per cent.
Foreign exchange earnings from tourism in June this year were Rs 8,951 crore as compared to Rs 8,458 crore last year, a growth of 5.8 per cent, according to Tourism Ministry data.
While foreign tourist arrival (FTA) was highest from USA with 22.21 per cent of the total FTA followed by Bangladesh (17 per cent), UK (7.18 per cent), Malaysia four per cent and Sri Lanka 3.41 per cent.
