India has agreed to halt the progress on the Miyar hydroelectricity project's design after objections by Pakistan, a media report here claimed today.
The development came as the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC) meeting of the Indus Water Commissioners of Pakistan and India held discussions today on water issues for a second day in Islamabad, Geo News reported.
The Indian delegation led by Indus Water Commissioner P K Saxena agreed to halt the progress on the Miyar hydroelectricity project's design, the report said.
"India will create and share a new design of the project," Pakistan's Indus Water Commissioner Mirza Asif Baig was quoted as saying.
Pakistan has raised objections over the designs of three projects, including Miyar hydroelectricity project, located in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul Spiti district, Lower Kalnai and Pakal Dul, both being built in Jammu and Kashmir, and demanded access to the sites, the report said.
Baig was quoted as saying that India also agreed to review the design for the Lower Kalnai hydroelectric project.
