Uber Asia (Head of Business) Eric Alexander said the company started its business three years ago in Bengaluru and is now operating in over 20 cities.
"India is now our fastest-growing business across the globe. It's a huge driver for us and we are investing very heavily. Uber has invested over a billion dollar into India and we continue to do so," he said here at the inauguration of US-India Innovation Forum under the aegis of Ficci.
The company, he said, also wants to create economic opportunities in India.
"Currently, in addition to over 500 Uber employees in India, we have a centre of excellence in Hyderabad and an engineering centre in Bengaluru. We continue to grow our business," he added.
Talking about start-ups in India, Alexander said the country is a huge driver for budding entrepreneurs.
