He was delivering the convocation address of the ninth annual convocation of Ravenshaw University here.
Calling upon the students to grab the opportunity as privileged sections of society, the UGC chairman said higher education is in a transitional period now with the invasion of technology in education.
He however, disapproved the idea that successful education is only making the students capable of getting a job the day they step out of the universities.
On the ninth convocation of the University at least 64 students were awarded with PhD degree while 30 students each from PG and UG were awarded with gold medals for their outstanding performances in 2016-17 academic sessions.
Vice-chancellor of the University Dr P C Sarangi presided over the function.
