A 54-year-old Indian attempting to climb all the highest peaks in the seven continents, is stuck at Camp II on Mount Everest along with 11 other fellow climbers due to the devastating earthquake that rocked Nepal.
Ankur Bahl, part of the Madison Group, had moved to Camp II from Camp I yesterday but is now stranded due to the earthquake, his friends in New Delhi said.
The area below Camp II is devastated by the avalanche. Camp I is at 19,500 feet while Camp II is at 21,000 feet where Bahl and his team spent the night.
Route below, especially below Camp I, is devastated. This includes the ice fall, one of his friend who is in touch with the team through a satellite phone said.
An Indian Army Expedition team is currently at the Base Camp (17,500 ft) and had yesterday helped pull out 13 bodies.
Marisa Eve Girawong, Bahl's team doctor, who was at Base Camp, has been killed.
His group is being led by Garret Madison who has climbed the Everest eight times.
A massive 7.9-magnitude temblor struck Nepal yesterday, killing over 2,000 people and injuring thousands besides causing a deadly avalanche on the Mount Everest claiming 17 lives.
