Indian employers face 3rd highest talent shortage globally: Survey

64% of employers face difficultly finding candidates with the right skills

Employers in India report the third highest talent shortage globally, with as many as 64% of employers facing difficulty finding candidates with the right skills to fill open positions, a ManpowerGroup survey said.

According to ManpowerGroup's survey of more than 37,000 employers in 42 countries and territories, employers in Japan report the greatest talent shortages globally (81%), followed by Peru (67%) and India (64%).

Employers across the world continue to be plagued by talent shortages, as 36% of global employers are facing difficulty in finding candidates with the right skills to fill open positions, the survey said.

"Talent shortages continue to persist and are impeding employers' ability to deliver value for their customers," ManpowerGroup CEO Jonas Prising said.

"Due to the lack of applicants with the right technical competencies, experience and soft skills, one out of three employers struggle to fill open roles," he added.

The survey noted that more than 50% of global employers reporting talent shortages say the shortages significantly impact their ability to meet client needs.

Moreover, 40% of employers say shortages reduce their competitiveness/productivity and one in every four employers surveryed is exploring new talent sources.

The top 10 jobs for which it is most difficult to get candidates in the Asia Pacific region include, engineers, sales representatives, skilled trades, accounting & finance staff, sales managers, technicians, IT staff, management executive, researchers (R&D) and production operators/machine Operators, as per the survey.
