A 32-year-old Indian man has been sentenced to three years in jail for forging credit cards in Bahrain.
The Indian national was convicted yesterday by the High Criminal Court of forgery and theft for using forged credit cards, the Gulf Daily News reported today.
However, the man, who was not identified, claimed that his employers had framed him. He said he was assaulted, tied up and held captive for a month after he was caught stealing.
Prosecution lawyer alleged that the accused applied for credit cards in other people's names using the stolen identity documents. He withdraw cash from ATMs and paid hotel bills in Bahrain's capital Manama, the report said.
Last December same court has sentenced him to a five-year jail term after founding him guilty of defrauding the company of BD9,500 (about USD 26,000).
