Munchetty, a London-born Malayali-origin journalist, is a regular on BBC's day-time 'Breakfast' news show since 2009 and will join over a dozen other celebrities when this year's dance contest begins next month.
"I was so surprised to be asked to take part - I never thought I'd have the courage to say yes, but it would be simply silly to turn down the chance to learn to dance with a professional," said the 41-year-old broadcaster, who was born Subha Nagalakshmi Munchetty-Chendriah.
Munchetty started her career as a financial journalist with the 'Evening Standard' newspaper and is also a keen golfer.
She also has some musical talent, being able to play the jazz trumpet and piano.
Munchetty has known she would be part of the TV show since February but was not allowed to share it with anyone except her husband, James Haggar.
'Strictly Come Dancing', which has had a number of spin-offs around the world including 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' in India, returns to BBC for its 14th series in September 2016.
