Indian-origin man wants name out of Malaysia's voters roll

A Malaysian Indian engineer has asked the Election Commission (EC) to remove his name from the country's electoral roll, saying that he had never given any authority to a party or individual to register him as a voter.
But, S K Dinesh, 32, who is based in London, was denied leave by a High Court here today to initiate judicial review proceedings against the country's Election Commission.
His father, 63-year-old retiree K Siva Kumar told reporters here that they discovered Dinesh's name was registered as a voter when a postcard arrived at the house address bearing his details as a voter.

The applicant claimed that he had never registered as a voter.
He claimed that he had never given any power nor authority to any party or any individual to register him as a voter.
He further claimed the respondents had failed to remove his name from the electoral roll and therefore had committed an injustice to him, The Star said.
Malaysia goes to polls on May 5.
