Indo-Pak ties getting better: Indian envoy

Indo-Pak ties were improving and better relations between the two countries would help in overcoming problems being confronted by the region, the outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan has said.
T C A Raghavan, while speaking at a farewell dinner hosted by Senator Anwer Beg yesterday, said he was leaving Pakistan on a positive note as the relations are heading toward the trajectory of betterment.
The outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan was quoted by the News International as saying that the ties between his country and Pakistan were improving.
Raghavan said an improvement in ties between Pakistan and India would greatly help in overcoming problems being confronted by the region and pave the way for betterment of the people of South Asia.

He said Pakistan and India will have to reduce their tensions for the sake of their respective people.
The schedule for meeting of the foreign secretaries of the two countries is being worked out by the two capitals. India is prepared to play its role in this regard, he said.

Raghavan did a wonderful job when he was posted in Pakistan twelve years as deputy high commissioner, Beg said.
The dinner was attended by intellectuals, mediapersons and more than 10 envoys.
Meanwhile, Pakistani daily Dawn, in an editorial today, lauded External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her role in the resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue.

"Swaraj's assertion that she believed in the continuation of the dialogue deserves to be welcomed, with the hope that India will not look for an excuse to wriggle out of the commitment," the editorial said.
