Hailing the Planning Commission's decision to raise Madhya Pradesh's annual plan size by 23 per cent for current fiscal year, Indore Mayor today said MP has emerged out of the "sick state" category.
"Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia in a meeting in Delhi yesterday congratulated and appreciated MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's efforts for all-round development and proper expenditure during the last fiscal year," Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe told reporters today.
Quoting the Planning Commission, Moghe said over 50 projects had been taken up in Madhya Pradesh to develop physical and social infrastructure.
Last year's plan size of Rs 28,000 crore has given a boost of Rs 35,500 crore for the current fiscal year due to better utilisation of funds provided under various central sponsored schemes, Moghe said.
MP is no longer in the category of sick states, but become "a developed state" with its own resources, better infrastructure in power, roads, education, and non-conventional energy sources, Moghe said.
Meanwhile, Indore BJP president Shankar Lalwani said that the opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh should give credit to the Chouhan government for achieving the Planning Commission's targets.
