Injeti Srinivas takes over as new SAI chief

Former Joint Secretary in the Sports Ministry, Injeti Srinivas will take over as the new Director General of Sports Authority of India.
Srinivas, who served as Joint Secretary in the Sports Ministry from 2007-2011, will continue to hold the additional charge of Chairman National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority till alternative arrangements are made, a release from the SAI said.
A 1983 cadre IAS officer from Odisha cadre, 54-year-old Srinivas replaces Jiji Thomson, who left the SAI DG's post in January to take charge as Kerala Chief Secretary. Sports Secretary Ajit Sharan was holding the additional charge of DG SAI after Thomson's departure.
A graduate in economics and Masters in Business Administration, Srinivas has been closely associated with the department of sports and was directly involved in the preparation of the National Sports Code 2011.
He also oversaw the formation of the National Sports Development Fund, through the contributions of Board for Control of Cricket in India and other corporate houses during his stint as the Joint Secretary in Sports Ministry. He was also the Principal Secretary for Sports and Youth Services Department in the Bhubaneswar Cadre between 2012-2013.
Apart from his stint with the Sports and Youth Affairs, Srinivas has also served as Chairman of Odisha State Financial Corporation, Chairman & MD, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO), Development Advisor of UNDP, National Institute Building Programme, Afghanistan and Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and Development Commissioner-cum-ACS, Odisha.
