The inquiry committee constituted by the government to go into the allegations of irregularities in the sale of machineries and scraps during 2013-2014 by state run AFT mill could not find any unusual dealings.
This was stated in the assembly today by Industries Minister M O H F Shah Jahan in response to a question tabled by the opposition AIADMK (Amma)legislator A Baskar.
Shah Jahan said that as soon allegations were received, the government appointed the Secretary to Industries Arun L Desai in October last year to hold an inquiry into the matter and its report was received in March this year.
The minister said that the report had pointed out that the mill adopted proper procedure to sell machineries not fit to be used and also the scraps after getting nod from the mill's executive committee.
The mill also took up the sale through e-auction and after giving advertisements in English and regional language newspapers.
There was also transparency in the procedure adopted in the sale, the report had stated.
As soon as the Minister presented the highlights of the report, AIADMK MLAs said that when the probe was started the officer should have called them they had filed the complaint of irregularities.
All the four legislators staged a walk out to protest against holding of the probe without associating the views of the complainant.
They however returned a few minutes later.
