Intense cold wave continues unabated in Himachal

There was no respite from biting cold wave conditions in Himachal Pradesh today as minimum temperatures hovered around freezing point in mid and lower hills while high altitude tribal areas reeled under minus 12 to minus 22 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office revised its earlier forecast and predicted rains or snow at isolated places in the state from January 27 onwards and rains or snow in higher hills and tribal areas tomorrow also.
Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded minimum temperatures at minus 9.8 degrees, minus 2.6 degrees and minus 2.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
Solan, Bhuntar and Sundernagar shivered at minus 0.6 deg while Una in Shivalik foothills recorded a low of 0. 2 degrees, three degree below normal, followed by Shimla 3.2 degree, Nahan 5.2 degree and Dharamsala 5.4 degrees.

There was marginal fluctuation in maximum temperatures with Bhuntar recorded a high of 19.0 degree, followed by Solan 18.5 deg, Una18.0 deg, Sundernagar 17.7 deg, Nahan 15.8 deg, Nahan 15.8 deg, Shimla 13.1 deg, Dharamshala12.4 degrees and Kalpa 11.0 degrees C.
There had been practically no rains in the region during the month of January, causing anxiety to the farmers as rains were badly needed for Rabi crops and apple crop.
The region received 7.5 mm rains against normal rainfall of 64.1 mm from January 1 to January 25 and the cumulative deficit was 88 per cent.
