The kingpin, Budhdeo Ganju was arrested after the Bihar Police nabbed some members of Ganju's gang and informed their Jharkhand counterparts, Y S Ramesh, district Superintendent of Police, said.
Ramesh told reporters that Jharkhand and Bihar Police were monitoring the activities of Ganju's gang members following the kidnapping of a medicine store owner, Ranjit Yadav, from Manatu on January 31.
The abductors had made a call to Yadav's family members from his mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his safe release, he said, adding the store owner was released on February 2.
Tow accomplices of Ganju - Vipin Ganju and Kamlesh Ganju, managed to escape, Ramesh said, adding the police have recovered two loaded guns, mobile phones, a laptop and Rs 1000 from him.
