IPS officer Sanjay Saxena appointed Mumbai JCP (Crime)

Senior IPS officer Sanjay Saxena was here today appointed the new Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
The 1993-batch IPS officer succeeded Atulchandra Kulkarni, who was transferred in mid-May and appointed chief of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
The post was lying vacant since then and Maharashtra government today chose Saxena for the high-profile job, a senior police officer said.
Before his current appointment, Saxena served as Special Inspector General with Force One, an elite counter-terrorism wing of Maharashtra Police formed after 26/11 terror attack.
Saxena's first posting as an IPS officer in the state was Superintendent of Police at Manmad in Nashik district. During his carrer, he also served in Bhiwandi in adjoining Thane district and in Mumbai in different capacities.
He later went to CBI on deputation and was then posted in Nagpur as Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order), the officer said.
