IPV 'Rani Avantibai' to be commissioned into Coast Guard

Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV) 'Rani Avantibai', the second in series of five IPVs, will be commissioned into Indian Coast Guard here tomorrow by the Union Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh.
The 50-metre IPV, built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, had been launched in 2009.
'Rani Avantibai' is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment, a defence release said today.
The ship is propelled by three MTU-4000 series diesel engines of 2720 KW capacity coupled with three 71S2 Rolls Royce Kamewa Jets, the release said.
'Rani Avantibai', designed to carry one rigid inflatable boat and two Geminis, is mainly assigned with the task of search and rescue, besides maritime patrol and law enforcement.
It can achieve the speed of 14 Knots and has an endurance of 1500 nautical miles.
The special features of the ship include an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Machinery Control System (IMCS), and an indigenously built Gun Mount with Fire Control System, the release added.
'Rani Avantibai' will be based at Visakhapatnam.
