The 50-metre IPV, built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, had been launched in 2009.
'Rani Avantibai' is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment, a defence release said today.
The ship is propelled by three MTU-4000 series diesel engines of 2720 KW capacity coupled with three 71S2 Rolls Royce Kamewa Jets, the release said.
'Rani Avantibai', designed to carry one rigid inflatable boat and two Geminis, is mainly assigned with the task of search and rescue, besides maritime patrol and law enforcement.
The special features of the ship include an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Machinery Control System (IMCS), and an indigenously built Gun Mount with Fire Control System, the release added.
'Rani Avantibai' will be based at Visakhapatnam.
