Problems in Syria and Iran's nuclear deal with global powers as well as overall issues in the Middle East are expected to be major topics of discussions at this year's annual WEF meet that would see participation of more than 2,500 leaders from different parts of the world.
An Iranian delegation led by President Rouhani would be attending sessions at the WEF meet in this Alpine ski resort town.
According to WEF's Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, there would be discussions over the future of Syria and Iran on the sidelines of the annual meet.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had decided to invite Iran, the main military backer of the Syrian regime, for the conference but was forced to withdraw the invitation following stiff resistance from Syria's main opposition party.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry would be attending the WEF meet and is also likely to have talks with Iranian President.
The participation of Iranian leaders at WEF also comes at a time when the country is implementing the nuclear deal, which was agreed at Geneva, to further restrict their nuclear programme in return for easing sanctions on the country.
