The Delhi High Court today asked the AAP government and South Delhi Municipal Corporation to inform it whether there was any policy capping the number of guests in farmhouses used for commercial purposes.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar issued notice to the Delhi government and the civic body on a plea alleging misuse of over 10 residential properties to run commercial activities.
The bench sought a status report within four weeks and posted the matter for hearing on September 25.
The bench directed the authorities to place before it the orders with regard to restriction on number of guests on being informed that the roads are overcrowded due to the misuse of the farmhouses for commercial purposes.
"The grievance made in the writ petition is regarding overcrowding on the road on account of misuse of farmhouses. The respondents shall place before us the orders, if any, in Delhi or anywhere else in the country, made at any point of time, regarding restrictions on number of guests," it said.
It further observed in its order that it is already examining the "inability" of the municipal corporations to manage the garbage which is generated on routine basis.
"It has to be examined as to whether the relevant inputs are taken into account for the policy and decision making by the authorities who are scrutinizing the applications for permission to use the farmhouses for other purposes," it said.
