ISLE President Dilip Kumbhat said they urged for reduction of rates for solar system components and LED lamps to five per cent and revisit GST to patchup pitfalls by restructuring and adopting proper mechanism between organised and unorganised sectors and help the industry survive.
Though fixing GST at 12 per cent on LEDs are in line with climate change and ensuring higher illumination through less energy consumption, fixing of GST on fluorescent tubular lamps and compact fluorescent lamps 'looks exorbitant,' he said.
"The use of tubelights are very common in rural areas and for an economical source of lighting the GST should be brought down to 12 per cent (from 18 per cent)", he said.
The sub-classification of products in various categories leads to confusion and lacks clarity,Kumbhat said.
