He said a systematic database of villages generated using space technology will help government take appropriate steps to conserve and augment water resources in villages.

The Minister said he and his team had already met noted scientist and honorary professor at ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) Sivathanu Pillai and held discussions in this regard.

In the next round of talks, he would meet ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar, Patil said, adding that he was ready to meet him even on Monday 'if the ISRO chief is available now."

He said he had already instructed his engineers and officials to submit a report on villages facing acute water problems by March 2.

Asked about technical details of the project, Patil said government would furnish it after the report was submitted and a plan charted out.
