IT department restructures its cadre in Bihar and Jharkhand

The Income Tax department has restructured its cadre in Bihar and Jharkhand under which a new post of Principal Chief Commissioner has been created to broadbase its tax base in the two states.
The cadre restructuring in income tax department for Bihar and Jharkhand has been implemented from November 15 last as per a proposal approved by the cabinet, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Bihar/Jharkhand) Ujjwal Chaudhary told reporters here.
Under the restructure plan, a new post of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Bihar and Jharkhand) has been created.
Four administrative Principal Commissoner/Commissioners, namely Principal CIT/CIT-1 and II, Patna; Principal CIT/CIT and Bhagalpur and Principal CIT/CIT, Muzaffarpur and Principal CIT/CIT, Ranchi have been asked to work under the administrative control of the new Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Bihar and Jharkhand), he said.
The post of CCIT-II, Patna has been abolished. A new post of CIT(Exemption) has been created and notified and it will work under control of the CCIT (Exemption), New Delhi. This newly-created posts have jurisdiction over all trusts and societies in the two states claiming exemption under section 11 and 12 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, he said.
Besides, the number of posts of CIT(Appeal) has been raised from six to nine with each CIT (Appeal) having jurisdiction corresponding to each administrative Pr.CIT/CIT, including Pr.CIT/CIT(Central), he said.
In addition, one special range under the control of Pr.CCIT, Patna and Pr.CIT/CIT, Patna, has been created which will have jurisdiction over top assesses of Bihar and Jharkhand. A post of Director (Income Tax) has been created which is likely to be stationed at Hazaribagh.
One additional ward in all assessment ranges in Bihar and Jharkhand region has been created resulting in each range having one circle and five wards. The Directorate of Income Tax and Criminal Investigation has been expanded with creation of post of ITO (I and CI) at major stations corresponding to the headquarters of Pr. CIT/CIT.
The Income Tax department has approved offices of six new stations in Bihar and Jharkhand regional, namely at Buxar, Aurangabad, Lakhisarai, Dumka, Koderma and Chaibasa. Two posts of ITO (International Taxation) have been created to be stationed in Patna and Ranchi, he said.
