J-K Assembly Speaker sets up Financial, other committees

The Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today constituted Financial and other Committees of the House for the current fiscal and expressed optimism that the committees would meet the expectations of the people of the state.
"The newly constituted committees of the House will come to the expectation of the people of the state and the Chairmen of the Committees will make their functioning expeditious, meaningful, effective and result oriented," Gul said announcing the setting up of the committees of the house here.
He said in order to ensure transparency and accountability of the executive, the Committees will play a pivotal role.
"The Committees will start their functioning immediately and Assembly Secretariat will provide all its assistance to the Chairmen of the respective Committees for making their functioning more effective," he said.
The committees constituted, include the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC), the Committee on Public Undertaking (PUC), the Committee on Estimates (EC), the Committee on Petitions (PC), the Committee on Privileges, the Committee on Subordinate Legislation (SLC), the Committee on Government Assurances, the Rules Committee (RC), the House Committee, the Library Committee, the General Purpose Committee (GPC), the Ethics Committee and the Committee on Environment, an official spokesman said.
Muzaffar Hussain Baig has been nominated as Chairman of PAC, Mohammad Sharief Niaz for PUC, Mustafa Kamal for EC, Ashok Kumar for PC and Mohammad Irfan Shah for Committee on Privileges among others, the spokesman said.
He added that the Speaker will be ex-officio Chairman of Rules Committee, House Committee, Library Committee and General Purpose Committee.
