In an effort to check fire incidents, authorities in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir today restricted people from storing dry grass and fodder near residential structures.
Officials said dry grass stocked in residential areas was the main cause of fire incidents in the hilly district.
Kishtwar has witnessed major fire incidents in the recent past, including in Afti and Sukhnaie villages.
"As a precautionary measure, the district magistrate in order to check future fire incidents has imposed restriction on storing or dumping fodder, dry grass and hay near or inside residential places," the officials said.
They said District Magistrate Angrez Singh Rana ordered that dry grass and fodder be kept at least 50 metres from the main locality or village, preferably covered or stacked.
