In a condolence message, the Governor has conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Recalling his long association with the departed leader, the Governor described him as a senior seasoned politician and an astute administrator who was deeply committed to restoring the state to sustained peace and normalcy and carrying it forward to achieve rapid growth and development on all fronts.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court led by Chief Justice, N Paul Vasanthakumar has expressed heartfelt grief on the demise of the Chief Minister and expressed condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
In a condolence message, he said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was known for his administrative skills.
Mufti carved out a place for himself not only in the history of the state of Jammu and Kashmir but also in the country as a whole.
"His demise has created a great vacuum, which is difficult to be filled. It has caused an irreparable loss to the entire populace of the country. May God give peace to his soul and courage to the family members to bear this huge loss," the chief justice in his condolence message said.
As a mark of respect, the Chief Secretary said that the state government has declared seven-day mourning from today and there shall be no official entertainment, besides the National and the State Flags shall fly at half mast on all government buildings and places during this period.
All government offices and educational institutions in the state shall remain closed today, he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kavinder Gupta on his and on behalf of the Assembly Secretariat has expressed deep shock and sorrow on the demise of the Chief Minister.
Gupta termed Mufti Sayeed as a true statesman and added that his death has created a vacuum in the political horizon of the state as well as the country which is impossible to be filled.
Deputy Speaker, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi has also expressed shock and sorrow over the demise of the Chief Minister.
