Saroda sub-jail Superintendent Laxmi Kanta Pati was gheraoed for a few hours and released after Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Baragarh police station went to the jail yesterday, Superintendent of Police Narasingh Bhol said.
The prisoners alleged that Pati had misbehaved with two women visitors when they had gone to meet their husbands who were in the jail, IIC B N Swain said.
At present, 81 undertrial prisoners are lodged in the sub-jail.
"The senior superintendent of Berhampur circle jail will inquire into the allegation," said DIG (Prisons), Southern Range, Gopabandhu Mallick.
