They also called for issuance of an ordinance by the state government before the new indirect tax regime is rolled out from July 1.
Jammu and Kashmir is the only state which has not passed the state GST Bill.
"Double taxation, in case of non implementation (of GST) shall make essential commodities costlier for the consumer, it shall also rob the state government of badly needed revenue," Chambers of Traders Federation (CTF) President Neeraj Anand told reporters.
Anand said "in case of lack of consensus among political parties, the ordinance route can be a workable solution to sort out the matter for the present."
"Bereft of its own financial capacity and a very thin industrial base, our state can ill afford to postpone the benefit thatshall accrueby timely implementation of GST," he added.
