The team has another Indian member, Rahul Kumar from Chattisgarh.
The expedition is slated for the year 2016 but prior to it, as a part of the training the team will scale Mt Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe.
The training camp for the same is being organised in Russia from September 4 to 22.
Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema today wished Japneet luck as she was leaving for the training camp and handed her the national flag as well as the flag having the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Parhao'.
Cheema said that it is indeed a matter of pride not only for Punjab but India that in the 12-member team for the expedition to Mt. Everest, the only Indian girl to qualify belongs to Mohali.
It may be recollected that Japneet had earlier scaled Bhagirath-3.
