All India Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti (AIJASS), an umbrella group of various Jat organisations, today hailed the passage of a Bill by the Haryana Assembly to provide reservation to Jats and five other communities in government jobs and educational institutions.
"I am satisfied with the Bill though I have not read the draft...It's a welcome move. The next course of action by Jats will be announced once the draft is ready," Hawa Singh Sangwan, the president of Sangwan faction of AIJASS, said.
Sangwan, however, demanded that Jats be given facilities on par with reserved categories 'A' and 'B' in government jobs.
Yashpal Malik, the president of another faction of the Samiti, rued that under BC 'C' category, which Jats and five other castes are part of, reservation for Class I and II posts is six per cent as against BC 'A' category in which the quota for such posts is 11 per cent now.
