Karnataka government today said it will take a decision after consulting legal experts on filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against the state High Court verdict acquitting former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and three others in the disproportionate assets case.
The state of Karnataka is the sole prosecuting agency in the 19-year disproportionate assets case, which was transferred from Chennai to Bengaluru.
"We will consult B V Acharya (Special Public Prosecutor), Advocate General and other legal experts and then take a decision," Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra told reporters here.
He said three to four days are required to read the judgement thoroughly.
The Karnataka High Court judgement came on an appeal against the judgement of the Special Court Judge John Michael D'Cunha who had on September 27 last year held the AIADMK supremo and three others guilty of corruption and awarded four years jail term, due to which she attracted disqualification as an MLA.
The judge had also slapped a fine of Rs 100 crore on her and Rs 10 crore each on three other convicts.
