Jaya pitches for AIADMK inclusive central govt

Launching her election campaign, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today sought votes to ensure AIADMK's participation in the next government at the Centre, promising a complete revamp of decision-making for people-friendly policies.
She accused the Congress of "plundering" the nation in the last ten years and appealed to the people to throw it out in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
"The Congress-led Government at the Centre had plundered the country in the last ten years. This anti-people Congress rule should be removed. I am sure that people are against Congress returning to power," the AIADMK supremo said launching her first phase of poll campaign from this temple town known for its silk.

Amidst loud cheers of "Amma" as she is fondly called by her supporters, Jayalalitha appealed to the electorate to ensure that the AIADMK would be part of the next government on a variety of issues including safeguarding the rights of Tamils.
Among the issues she highlighted are the need to take away the powers of the oil marketing companies to fix petroleum products, reversal of the policy allowing FDI in multi brand retail, alleged scam in defence procurement, steps to check rising prices and measures to improve the life of armed forces personnel.
Lashing out at the Congress, she accused it of betraying people of Tamil Nadu on at least ten issues, including Sri Lankan Tamils issue, attack on fishermen from the state and on Katchatheevu retrieval. (More)

Jayalalitha said a government in which AIADMK would participate would get the UN intervene to punish those responsible for the "war crimes" in Sri Lanka. It will also ensure a referendum in Sri Lanka on the issue, she said.
