Work in government offices in the state was affected for the third consecutive day today with the JCC's call for a three-day strike from September 9 to press the government on fulfilling its demands.
"JCC has now decided to go for a five-day-long agitation," senior leader of JCC Mohammad Gafoor Dar told reporters here today.
"We have decided to hold protests on September 17, a candlelight march the next day (Sept 18), gherao of the Civil Secretariat on September 19 and demonstrations on September 20 and 21 in the state," Dar added.
The employees are demanding raise of the retirement age bar from 58 to 60 years, regularisation of daily and need-based workers who have been engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre and budgetary support to sick public sector corporations for payment of wages to workers.
