While Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar refrained from making any direct attack on Congress even as he attributed BJP's victory in Assam to the state's ruling party's decision not to go for an alliance in the assembly polls, JD(U) general secretary K C Tyagi went at it hammer and tongs.
"An anti-BJP atmosphere was built in the country after Bihar assembly election results last year in which the grand alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress had defeated the BJP-led NDA. That suffered a jolt today due to Assam result for which the local leadership of Congress led by Tarun Gogoi is responsible," Tyagi told PTI.
He also said that the Assam election results clearly show that days of one or two major parties coming to power on their own have gone and it is the coalition which will work.
Commenting on Assam assembly poll results, Nitish Kumar said,"In Assam, Congress did not go for an alliance before polls, whereas the BJP successfully stitched up an alliance."
"It (the result) was clear well before the elections. It was clearly visible from all sides," he said.
AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal had said a few days back on Twitter that if BJP wins because of a division of "secular" votes, it is Congress which will be responsible.
"Nitish Kumarji, Lalu Yadavji also tried their best 2 work out a grand alliance including Congress, AGP, BPF, JDU, RJD & all other secular forces. We tried our best to form an alliance with the Congress, Prashant Kishore spoke to Rahul Gandhi in this regard," Ajmal, whose AIDUF has emerged as a force to reckon with in the state, had said.
