Jeera prices fell by 0.94 per cent to Rs 17,900 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels on muted domestic and exports demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January next year fell by Rs 170, or 0.94 per cent, to Rs 17,900 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,882 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in current month moved down by Rs 65, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 18,415 per quintal in 5,148 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
