Jeera futures fall 1.16 pc on profit-booking

Jeera prices fell 1.16 per cent to Rs 17,395 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming positions to book profits at prevailing levels amid lower domestic and exports demand.
Besides, ample stocks position following higher supplies from major growing regions in Gujarat and Rajasthan fuelled the downtrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June fell Rs 205, or 1.16 per cent, to Rs 17,395 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,304 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July moved down by Rs 200, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 17,500 per quintal in 8,208 lots.

Analysts said, besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
