The 41-year-old singer opens up about her short-lived relationship with the "Milk" actor in her new memoir "Never Broken: Songs Are Only Half the Story," reported Aceshowbiz.
In 1995 Jewel got her first TV break on Conan O'Brien's show and during her brief return to Alaska she got a call from Penn, 55.
"One day my dad came to find me, saying, 'Jewel, you must be getting some kooky fans out there in the Lower 48. Some guy just prank-called and said he was Sean Penn," she writes
The "Foolish Games" singer then gives an account of her trip with the actor to the Venice Film Festival, where she was introduced to a new glitzy and glamorous world.
Jewel and "Mystic River" star's romance, however, came to an end in the same year.
