Das, visited Angada block of Ranchi and met guardians at their doorsteps. He asked them to send their wards to schools, an official said.
Das, also assured support to a girl in pursuing her studies under state government's "Vidyalaya Chal Chalo Abhiyan" after he learned that the girl could not pursue eduction after class 8 due to paucity of funds, the official said.
HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik, who was accompanying the CM, told the girl that she could take admission in ninth class in government-funded Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
He also said the state (66.41 per cent) trailed behind the national average (73 per cent) in literacy and expressed concern over the low average (55.42 per cent) among women.
