Lal joined BJP with more than 25 supporters in the presence of senior BJP leaders Vijay Rupani, Purushottam Rupala, I K Jadeja and others at the BJP office in Khanpur here.
On April 3, Lal, who had contested assembly election from Jamnagar on a Congress ticket twice, quit the party.
Lal, who had lost to BJP candidates in 2007 and 2012, claimed today that his elections had been sabotaged by a senior leader from Jamnagar.
"People of Jamnagar know him well. I am joining BJP without any expectations. When Narendra Modi is about to become the next Prime Minister, I want to assure him that I will help BJP get the Jamnagar parliamentary seat for him."
Vikram Madam of Congress, the sitting MP from Jamnagar, is contesting on the party ticket this time too. He would be facing his niece and BJP candidate Poonam Madam.
