JK vigilance registers corruption case against 3 officials
Press Trust of India Srinagar The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) of Jammu and Kashmir today registered a case of corruption against three government officials for allegedly misappropriating funds in Anantnag district.
The case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act during a Joint Surprise Check (JSC) conducted into the allegations that the officials of the Integrated Child Development Services misappropriated huge amount of money under the IGMSY scheme meant for the welfare of pregnant and lactating ladies, an official spokesman said.
During the course of investigation it was established that CDPO Dooru Shamima Akhtar, in her capacity as drawing and disbursing officer under a well-knit criminal conspiracy with other officials and private persons, had fraudulently credited government money from two government accounts to her personal account.
The other officials include Mohammed Hussain Sheikh, the then statistical assistant, and Opinder Raina, an orderly in Child Development Project Officer Akhtar, he said.
The money was also credited to an account of one private person, Batoola Masoodi, the spokesman said.
"The CDPO had later deposited back an amount of Rs 1,26,300 into the government account but an amount of Rs 12,62,357 was misappropriated thereby causing wrongful loss to the state exchequer and corresponding wrongful gain to the accused persons," he said.
