The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today staged a demonstration here demanding immediate deportation of illegal Myanmar and Bangladeshi nationals.
The outfit also threatened a massive movement in case the government failed to act against the illegal immigrants.
"Thousands of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals have illegally settled in different parts of Jammu and are posing a grave threat to the security of the region and its demographic character. We will not relent unless Jammu region is liberated from this ticking time bomb," JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh told reporters.
Criticising the central and state governments for their "failure" to take a timely call on the issue, Singh said presence of these people in Jammu was a "deep rooted conspiracy" to change the demographic character of Jammu.
Questioning the sincerity of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state over the deportation of the illegally settled foreign nationals, the JKNPP chairman said the formation of high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh in May was an "eye wash".
"Ever since the GoM was constituted to devise a strategy for their eviction, no concrete action had been taken till now," he said.
Singh claimed that the illegal immigrants were enjoying civic amenities like water and electricity, made permanent constructions and acquired Aadhar cards, gas connections and even state subject certificates.
