JNU row: Three seperate charge sheets filed in PHC voilence

Delhi police has filed three separate charge sheets relating to the brazen attacks on scribes and others at the Patiala House courts premises here allegedly by a group of lawyers and others during production of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar in an alleged sedition case.
While the first charge sheet names advocates Vikram Chauhan, Yashpal Singh and Om Sharma as accused, the second has been filed against BJP MLA O P Sharma.
The third charge sheet was filed against advocates Chauhan and Singh.
The three lawyers have been chargesheeted for the alleged offences under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (offence committed by unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

The BJP legislature has been chargesheeted for alleged offences under sections 323, 341 (wrongfully any person) and 506 of IPC.
Four separate FIRs were lodged by the Delhi police in connection with the violence at the Patiala House courts premises on February 15 and 17 respectively.

A group of lawyers had allegedly attacked journalists, students and teachers of JNU and unidentified people in and outside the court dubbing them as anti-nationals in the wake of a raging row over the arrest of Kanhaiya.
The violence broke out when Kanhaiya, against whom a sedition case was filed, was to be brought before a court for remand proceedings.

According to the sources, the charge sheet said that the violence was planned and the perpetrators had provoked the mob to go on a rampage.
It mentions names of several witnesses, including security guards, lawyers and scribes, who were reportedly present when lawyers allegedly assaulted JNU students and journalists.
The Police has also relied on CCTV footages, including those reportedly showing Kanhaiya being attacked in the court premises and O P Sharma allegedly resorting to violence.
The police, however, said that probe into the case was still going on.
The court has fixed the matter for hearing on September 22.

"The three lawyers had formed unlawful assembly with their common objective to attack Kanhaiya Kumar using criminal force and threatened journalists with dire consequences and even destroyed their personal property," the charge sheet said.
Kanhaiya, who was granted interim bail on March 2 by the high court, is facing sedition charge in connection with an event at JNU campus here on February 9 where anti-national slogans were allegedly raised and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hailed as a 'martyr'.
