In a meeting convened on November 4, the JNU top echelon was receptive to our demands and ready to act in a time bound manner, said Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA) President Arun Kumar today.
"A committee will be set up for administrative reforms in JNU so as to decentralise and bureaucratise. JNUTA has nominated faculty members for the committee," he said.
To ensure that reforms are implemented in a time-bound manner, the report is expected to come out in two months.
To ensure elimination of harassment of faculty, a committee to reform Project Cell administration is set to come up.
The Teachers' association has already nominated faculty members for the committee, a statement said.
In further relief to teachers, the Vice Chancellor S K Sopory has further agreed that JNU will immediately formulate its position on the pension issue.
This response by the administration comes after JNUTA had submitted a charter of demands to the VC on October 1 alleging "structural problems" in the institution.
