The JNU students association (JNUSU) has condemned the university administration's move to convene its academic council meetings during vacations, terming it as an attempt to evade scrutiny.
The JNUSU claimed that they have received an information regarding conduct of academic council meeting on June 16 which is the continuation of the 143rd Academic Council meeting that was adjourned on May 9.
"Today we submitted a letter to JNU VC stating our opposition to reconvening the adjourned 143rd AC meeting during the time of vacation when most of the students and AC members are not in the campus," JNUSU president Mohit Kumar Pandey said in a release.
"JNUSU believes that there must be a thorough discussion on each agenda and such meeting should be held when all the members are present. We request you to conduct the meeting after semester vacation," read the letter written to the VC.
The students association alleged that the administration has become habitual of holding important meetings during vacations.
"This is not for the first time they are doing so. Even 142nd AC meeting of JNU was called by the JNU administration during the vacation," he added.
Timing of earlier library committee meeting, campus development meetings are all a few examples, Kumar said, adding the VC and his team never believed in having deliberations.
