"The Junior Soft Tennis World Championship may be held in New Delhi this December. Close to players from 40-45 countries are expected to participate in the tourney," Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India President Raju Parmar said.
Soft Tennis is similar to Lawn Tennis but soft rubber balls and flexible rackets are used while playing.
Meanwhile, the 11th Senior National Soft Tennis championship, which is being held in city here, will end tomorrow, Soft Tennis Association of Gujarat joint secretary Hasmukh Vegda said.
More than 500 players from across 21 states in the country are participating in the tourney, Vegda said.
Soft tennis was introduced in Asian Games in the 1994 Hiroshima Games in Japan, the country where the sport originated. Indian team had also taken part in the 2010 Asian Games in China and had reached pre-quarterfinals.
