: The 4 lakh square feet state-of-the-art IT building, 'Jyothirmaya' at the Infopark here will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 22.
The 9-storeyed building, constructed over six acres of land, as part of the second phase of development in Infopark, is expected to house over 4000 IT professionals.
The second phase of Infopark that is being developed on 160 acres land on the shores of Kadamprayar river, has been envisaged as a 'walk to work' IT Township with built up space for IT companies, and other facilities such as business convention centre, budget hotel, shopping complex school and hospital.
Designed to international standards, the building and the second phase is being developed as an eco-friendly green park campus and will have high energy saving measures and least carbon emission.
"The campus, with water frontage, will have a total built-up area of 8 million sq.Ft when fully operational, and will provide direct employment to 80,000 IT professionals," Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, IT Parks, Kerala told reporters here.
"People can come to work in a boat through the Kadamprayar river.
The boat service is presently available from Vytilla hub to Rajagiri and the Corporation is planning to extend the service till Phase 2 soon," he said.
Kochi Metro is also expected to be extended to Kakkanad in its second phase and with the Seaport Airport Link, Infopark will be well connected and will be easy to commute for those who work here.
Once the entire campus is ready, working in Phase two will be dream come true as one can 'Walk to Work' as the 2nd phase is envisaged as a self-contained township," he added.
Presently, 15 companies have taken up space in the new
building, which offers spaces in small and big formats at the same time catering to small medium companies and big multi-nationals.
About 102 acres of the project is being notified as Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by the Union Commerce Ministry.
Cognizant Technologies is already operational with its first building.
The Muthoot Group has already launched its first international school, Sanskara, on 5.25 acres of land allotted to them, where it offers classes from KG to 12th standard.
"The Kakkanad area of Kochi is going to see a huge turnaround once the Infopark Phase 2 and Smart City will be fully operational.
We would have created an IT Destination in Kochi that will be equipped with world class infrastructure and facilities.
We are receiving a lot of interest from global IT companies who are keen to set up operations in Infopark soon," Nair said.
These developments willboost the investment potential of Kerala in the coming years as there will be more IT spaces coming up and it inturn attracts more investment to the state and thereby employment increases.
More companies will see Kochi as a potential IT destination in the coming years, he asserted.
Infopark has already taken possession of 125 acres of land for Phase 2 development and 85 per cent of this land has already been allotted to IT companies for setting up captive centres and IT infrastructure developers for building IT Parks.
Eleven companies have already been allotted land.
Muthoot Group will be soon constructing a global standard IT Park in 9.37 acres of land.
Besides, the Kosamattam Group is planning an IT building in 1.3 acres, Claysys Infrastructure in 1.6 acres.
The work on the IT Building being built by Trans Asia Group is already on the road to completion.
Media System will also develop a facility in one acre of land.
"For the first time in Kerala, Infopark Phase 2 will house a tier-4 Data Centre of Hyderabad based PI Data Centres in 5.8 acres of land.
We are working towards making Phase 2 completely operational by 2023 and we intend to better the success of Infopark Phase 1 with Phase II," Nair said.
Other IT parks in Cherthala and Koratty are also doing extremely well with further development activities already underway, he added.
The Phase 2 campus also has a 220 KV Gas Insulated Sub-station, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plan, and planned road network.
