Kapur Tied 6th in Taiwan; Jeev finishes T-18

Indian golfer Shiv Kapur logged a fine Top-10 finish after carding two-under 70 on the final day of the Mercuries Taiwan Masters on Sunday.

Kapur signed off at Tied 6th for a score of three-under 285. It was his second Top-10 of the season, following his runner-up finish at Royal Cup in July.

Kapur shot four birdies against two bogeys in his final round.

Jeev Milkha Singh registered his best finish in nearly two years as he shot a final round of 73 and finished at two-over 290 for a Tied 18th finish.

Jeev's last Top-10 came in Indonesia Open in November 2016 and since then he has been struggling with form and injuries.

Gaganjeet Bhullar (72) was T-26th, while SSP Chawrasia (76) was T-29th on yet another tough day for scoring. Shubhankar Sharma went to 78 and was T-42nd.

Adilson Da Silva of Brazil claimed a long-awaited victory on the Asian Tour after closing with a third consecutive two-under-par 70 to win by one shot.

The 46-year-old Da Silva, who held a one-shot lead heading into the final round, fired three birdies on the third, seventh and 13th holes before dropping a shot on the last for a winning total of seven-under-par 281 in the USD 850,000 event.

Da Silva, who started playing on Tour after coming through the Qualifying School in 2011, earned a career-biggest prize purse of USD 170,000 thanks to his victory. He also became the first Brazilian to win on the region's premier Tour since it was inaugurated in 2004.

Local hero Lin Wen-tang signed for a 70 to share second place with American Berry Henson, who posted a 69, at the fabled Taiwan Golf and Country Club, which is celebrating its centennial year in 2018.

Despite missing out on his third win of the season, Justin Harding took pride in his commendable result at T-4 which moved him up two spots to sixth place on the Asian Tour Habitat for Humanity Standings, led by Shubhankar.

The top 10 and top four players (not otherwise exempt) on the Habitat for Humanity standings, as of October 7, will qualify for the USD 7 million CIMB Classic and USD 10 million WGC-HSBC Champions staged in Malaysia and China respectively.
