"I congratulate Malala and Satyarthi for bagging the Nobel prize for their work. I request them to work as messengers of global peace," he said in the state Legislative Council here.
Soon after the House assembled, Chairman D H Shankaramurthy tabled the congratulatory motion which was welcomed by all the members.
Satyarthi and Malala received the Nobel Peace Prize for 2014 for their pioneering work on promoting child rights in the subcontinent.
Lauding her efforts, Siddaramaiah said one should appreciate the courage of this little girl who fought against Taliban forces in Pakistan, without bothering the threat perception.
Siddaramaiah appreciated the unrelenting fight against child labour by Sathyarthi and said his efforts to rehabilitate 80,000 street children and giving them education was laudable.
Opposition leader K S Eshwarappa said Bachchpan Bachao campaign launched by Satyarthi was a great example of how tireless work for a social cause gets international recognition.
