Karnal hottest at 44.5 deg C as heat wave sweeps Hry and Pb

No respite was experienced today from the blistering heat wave sweeping Haryana and Punjab as Karnal sizzled at 44.5 degrees Celsius.
Karnal in Haryana recorded the season's hottest day which was six notches above normal level, the MeT Department report said here.
Blistering heat, which has been seeping the two states since the past few days, also swept Hisar, where the maximum temperature settled at 44 degrees, up three notches, while Ambala, too, had a hot day at 42.6 degrees, up four degrees.
The residents of Chandigarh braved another hot day with the mercury touching 42 degrees, up four notches from normal.
In Punjab, Ludhiana braved the hot conditions at 43 degrees, up four degrees, while Patiala's maximum settled at 42.9 degrees, also four notches above the normal level.
Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees, up three notches.
According to the MeT forecast valid until tomorrow, dust storm/thunderstorm accompanied by squall with wind speed exceeding 45 kmph may occur at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab.
