With instances of Indian fishermen being apprehended by Sri Lankan navy continuing, DMK chief M Karunanidhi today took a dig at Congress-led UPA government for hosting a key Sri Lankan leader in Delhi last week, albeit in a low-key affair.

Responding to a set of questions in party mouthpiece 'Murasoli,' Karunanidhi said there were reports of arrested Indian fishermen being chained while being produced in Lankan courts while their Sri Lankan counterparts were treated with respect after being detained in Indian waters.

He said people with compassion all over the world were concerned about the fate of Indian fishermen, and charged New Delhi with not doing so.

"The Indian government which has to condemn these, is secretly inviting (Sri Lankan President Mahinda) Rajapaksa's brother (Gotabaya) and hobnobbing with him," he said, without naming him.

Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa had reportedly visited the national capital last week in a low-key affair.
