Amidst the heightened vigil by the anti-hijacking police, security staff caught one passenger, Suhail Mir, with 335 grams of jewellery worth Rs 7,71,398, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anti-Hijacking, Jammu Airport, Rajinder Gupta said.
He said Mir is from Sonawar belt (Srinagar) and was travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in a Spicejet flight.
He said the jewellery was purchased from Dubai.
The matter was brought to the notice of Khalid Majeed, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial taxes, Jammu, who imposed a penalty of Rs 23,142 for tax evasion, the SSP said.
